After a little Covid delay, and with no new date in mind we decided to reschedule our wedding to slot in with the wedding season at the shop. We had also recently moved house so I was really keen to have the wedding in the backyard (Matt not so much haha - but he came round to the idea). So there was quite a busy lead up to the day getting the garden ready and then busy straight after with work-related weddings, but I am so glad we got in there and even with a touch of summer warmth.
My lovely friend Billie Brook Photography captured the day wonderfully (as I knew she would). I have known Billie for several years and done a couple of other shoots with her so I was totally relaxed and I knew my husband would have a great-old-time with her too.
As a florist, but also a bride for the day I had to relinquish some responsibility on the flower front. With a big group effort we did heaps the previous day, but I had to rely on my amazing staff and friends to set up at the venues (home and then Dockside) - and they didn't disappoint. I was so happy with how everything came together with my very little direction and I am so grateful for all their hard work.
I had lots of people assuming that I had given a lot of thought to the flowers, but surprisingly I didn't have too much fixations on particular flowers I wanted to include as I didn't want to stress if I couldn't get something (and I just love flowers anyway!!). I was however pretty happy that I got to include some King proteas and dahlias though, and the hanging amaranthus added a wild/whimsical touch.
We didn't have a bridal party as my husband's best friend couldn't travel here so we just went with my daughter as bridesmaid and my son as ring bearer. Hank stole the before show with his custom made bowtie and rolling around on the grass lapping up all the attention before the ceremony kicked off.
